Founder and Trip Facilitator: Regina Winkle-Bryan
Regina Winkle-Bryan is the founder of Bold Spirit Travel, a company connecting women through adventure. She leads many Bold Spirit Travel trips along with a team of talented guides.
Regina has visited over 35 countries. Sometimes she stays longer in a place than expected, like those two-plus years in Central America. Or those ten years in Barcelona, Spain. Currently, she calls Seattle home.
Regina grew up in the Pacific Northwest and does a lot of yoga, hiking, and reading. She understands that sometimes a woman wants luxury and sometimes she wants to get her boots dirty. She prepares for a trek on the Camino de Santiago with the same joyful enthusiasm—and meticulous attention to detail—as she does for a posh trip to metropolitan Rome. She approaches each new expedition with a sense of humor and deep curiosity. Any adventure is a good adventure.
Regina’s intrepid spirit and extensive experience in the travel industry made launching Bold Spirit Travel a logical decision as well as a passion project. Some of her most memorable and perspective-shifting journeys have been with fellow women adventurers. Regina aims to create a space for travelers to unite over shared wanderlust on women-only trips around the globe…and have some fun, too.
Sustainability and education are important to Regina, which is why Bold Spirit Travel donates to Girls Inc. She loves maps, fado, and fideuà (which is sort of like Spanish paella), sometimes all at the same time.

Alexa Stickel
Alexa was born in Switzerland, raised in Miami (USA), and has been living in the cloud forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica for the past thirteen years. She discovered the magic of tropics as a student on a 3-week Ecology field course in 2008, and has been sharing her passion for the natural world through her work ever since!
She is an avid birdwatcher, loves to travel, and also loves to dance and connect with people who have different perspectives than hers. She is a true student of life: insatiably curious about the world around her and always up for an adventure.
Rachel Watts
Rachel had two incredible, eye opening years leading tours in Greece, Egypt, China and East Africa in her 20s. Working alongside local people in these countries drew her to international development. Upon return to the UK, where she's from, she supported groups on Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp expeditions for INGOs and later managed the arrangements for programme visits around the world.
For the last six years, she has been guiding in Spain, her adopted home, while learning Spanish and becoming familiar with the vastly different regions. Her ambition is to combine introducing fellow travellers to Spanish culture and landscapes with documentary film making.
