How to Plan Three Days in Rome
Maybe you are flying into Rome to join us on one of the Amalfi trips, or maybe it’s your gateway into the northern part of Italy. Whatever the reason, Rome deserves your attention.
Here is how to plan a great mini-stay in the city.
HOTELS
It is important to book your hotel room well in advance if you are traveling during high season.

TRAIN AND FLIGHTS
The main train station is Roma Termini.
Book trains on ItaliaRail or TrenItalia.
The fast train is called Frecciarossa or Frecciargento.

It is easy to take a fast train from Rome to Naples, Florence, or even Venice.
The main train station in Naples (if you are coming from Rome to Naples) is Napoli Centrale.
The airport is Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino International Airport.
Taking a taxi from the airport is at least 50 euros.
ACTIVITIES
If you plan to see the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, it is best to go to the very early morning tour or the night tour to avoid crowds. Get your tickets well in advance.

Iconic ancient Roman sights not to be missed: Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Pantheon.
Villa Borghese is the third largest public park in Rome and once a vineyard, Villa Borghese is a landscaped oasis. It is also home to the Galleria Borghese, which houses work by Bernini, Raphael, and Caravaggio.
Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini: The church’s crypt contains the skeletons of 3,700 former members of the Capuchin order, preserved as a reminder that life is fleeting and death comes to us all.
Torre Argentina holds Italy’s most famous cat sanctuary. Open to visitors every afternoon, the shelter survives on donations and some animals are available for at-a-distance adoption.
